Instruction I have taught and lectured in the United Kingdom, Russia, and here in the United States in several institutions as well as privately in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Authentic Fresco Techniques This is a special two day course that is devoted to the unique principles that are same as those of the art of creating full-scale fresco paintings. Participants will mix and apply the final coat of slaked lime plaster (intonaco) to prepared lightweight portable panels that I have developed. On the first day the students will mix colors for the two days' painting. Historical grinding and mixing colors will be taught. Students may create one fresco composition by applying the techniques of attaching fresh intonaco on the second day to a section of the previous fresco painting that they created on the first day. The technique of authentic fresco painting will introduced using many twentieth century lime proof colors and color concentrates only recently available. Students are encouraged to create their own images or work from historical examples that I will provide along with a brief history of fresco from cave painting to the great murals of the Rivera and Orosco.. (Dates TBA, email for more information)   BECOME A PRINTMAKER monotypes Spend a special day printing in Irene's studio at the ocean. Students can develop the painterly print on a large etching press. Learn the art of painting and transferring your images all in one day through the printmaking process by using the many diverse possibilities of the press. Discover and print the second impression "ghost" after you make the first print. This is an opportunity to have at least one monotype. You may also do handprints. It is possible to print with water or oil based materials. Supplies are provided. All that the artist needs to have is possibilities!
